Medication Alert: Diamox™ Sequels Shortage Over Update 9/4/15
August 9, 2015—Diamox™ Sequels ER 500mg, distributed by Duramed Pharmaceuticals, are once again available. Check with your pharmacist for more details.
July 23, 2015—Duramed Pharmaceuticals confirmed yesterday that, due to a packaging issue, there is currently a shortage of Diamox™ Sequels ER 500mg in the United States. Please note this only affects brand Diamox™ Sequels, not generic acetazolamide sequels or acetazolamide tablets. If you have a prescription for Diamox™ Sequels, you may have difficulty filling it for the next few weeks. The company expects to start shipping the drug mid-late August. We will update you as soon as more information becomes available. Again, this shortage only affects brand Diamox™ Sequels.
If You Are Affected By This Shortage
• Check in regularly with your pharmacist for any progress on the shortage.
• Check other pharmacies in your area. One pharmacy may have some remaining supply of the drug, while others may be out.
• Talk to your doctor. He or she may be able to suggest temporary medication changes or alternatives. However, do not change your medication without your doctor’s knowledge or guidance.
• Check our site and Facebook page; We’ll let you know any information as soon as we do. If you have questions, please let us know!
